The Kids Fishing Challenge is free to all children ages 3 to 14. The first 300 anglers will receive a free rod and reel, event t-shirt, bait and tackle, lunch and a chance to win a trophy for the top angler in three divisions while learning the fundamentals of fishing in the park’s large lake teeming with several freshwater species, from bass to brim. Families can expect to enjoy a day of fun-filled activities in addition to fishing. Officer Snook will be giving out helpful information on water safety; Biscayne National Park will present a touch table; Youth Fishing Foundation will present a touch tank; FWC will display an airboat and have other surprises for the kids; lunch will be provided for the anglers; there will also be other displays, games and activities to enjoy from Miami Children’s Museum, Rotary Club of Coral Gables and UM Sports Hall of Fame.
