The village of 23,000+ people is booming with great spaces to play, explore & celebrate the great outdoors. Don’t miss these five parks:

Coral Reef Park (7895 SW 152 St, 305-235-1593). Pure kid paradise. Not only does Coral Reef Park offer tennis lessons and football leagues, it is filled with grassy fields, softball/baseball diamonds, football uprights, beach volleyball courts and a huge playground. This is the perfect park for running off energy, learning to ride a bike or hosting a party- many of the picnic areas and pavilions are rentable (see Palmetto Bay website for details).

Palmetto Bay Park (17535 SW 95 Ave, 305-251-2751). The biggest Boundless playground in South Florida! The park is dominated by a softball complex (Howard Palmetto Baseball Softball Association runs leagues for kids and most days it is easy to find a game to watch). A huge field, rentable grill spots and a shady walking path complete the perfect spot to fly a kite or start an impromptu game of kickball.

Ludovici Park (17641 Old Cutler Rd, 305-232-1771). With a public library, pavilion, and band shell, Ludovici is often the site of park events like Holiday by the Bay and local concerts. Ludovici Park is also a great place to take a walk near Palmetto Bay’s most famous resident: An alligator who lives in the nearby pond (behind a fence, of course!).

Thalatta Estate (17301 Old Cutler Rd, 305-234-6383). Thalatta Estate is a great way to teach children about local history. Tour the historic home and grounds and watch the wildlife on the mangrove-ringed edge of Biscayne Bay.

Perrine Wayside Dog Park (16425 South Dixie Hwy, 305 259-1234). Shady benches, pavilions, a lake, dog & human water fountains and a doggy wash station make Perrine Wayside Dog Park the perfect spot for the whole family. Bring the toys and let little & furry ones run off all their energy in a wonderfully fun way!

Sign up for our newsletter & get top picks for family fun every week!

[mailchimp_redirect_form]

By Julia Rothfield, Palmetto Bay resident & Girl Scout completing her Gold Award project.
