We wait all year for the lazy, hazy days of summer. Make the most of these three months with our 2022 Summer Bucket List.

Plan a Beach Day

Is there anything better a family day at the beach? We’re lucky enough to have some of the best beaches in the country in our backyard. Later up the sunscreen (we like this one for face and this one for body), pack up the beach toys (here are some of our favorites) and head out for an afternoon. This is hands-down our favorite beach towel (it’s giant and sand doesn’t stick to it) and we love this cooler for easy portability.

See a Free or Cheap Movie

A munchkin-friendly movie is a perfect escape from summer heat. We love the AC, the snacks, the patient moviegoers and the general indulgence of seeing a movie in the middle of the day. Lots of chains offer free or discounted summer movies, including AMC ($5), Cinemark ($1.50), Regal Cinemas ($2), Xscape and CMX Cinemas ($1.99).

Get Crafty

We love a good crafternoon. Click here to check out some of our favorites, including a friendship bracelet making kits, a birdhouse making kit, squishy decorating, modeling clay and a sand art kit.

Host Family Game Night

Nothing brings families together like some healthy competition. Family game night is prime opportunity to get creative, flex your competitive muscles and giggle a lot. Some of our favorite games are Monopoly, Life, Twister, Scrabble, Ticket to Ride and Exploding Kittens.

Visit a Local Festival or Concert

Summer is prime festival season. Some statewide highlights include the Florida Folk Festival (White Springs), Hemingway Days (Key West) and Pensacola Beach Air Show (Pensacola). Click here to check out your local calendar to discover festivals & concerts near home.

Volunteer as a Family

Volunteering as a family teaches empathy, responsibility, awareness and kindness. Giving back with your munchkins will connect you to each other and to your community. Click here for a list of volunteer projects you can do from home or check out Volunteer Match for local opportunities.
