Miami is chock-full of ways to teach our kids about nature, gardening, healthy living and taking care of our planet. Here are four of our favorite ways to go green with the munchkins in Miami….
- Take a farmers market tour. Meet the farmers, let the kids sample the goods & ask about how they grow the foods, where their farms are and what’s in season. Click here for a master list of farmers markets in Miami.
- Join a family gardening club in North Miami. The weekly event teaches kids to be a part of a team, builds community & lets little ones get hands-on gardening experience. Free, but RSVP is suggested – click here.
- Treat the kids to a Friday night campfire. Learn about native wildlife, take a trail walk and cap it off with a marshmallow roast organized by Miami EcoAdventures, click here for details.
- Join a park cleanup. Help restore Arch Creek Park by removing weeds, planting, picking up garbage and learning about our environment. The project runs the second Saturday of every month and is open to kids and adults of all ages – next one is Saturday, Nov 8. Free, but reservations are required, click here for details.
