As the government shutdown stretches past one month, these local organizations are offering assistance to furloughed Federal employees.

South Florida

Boynton Beach Utility Service. The City of Boynton Beach will defer water, wastewater, reclaimed water, irrigation water, stormwater, and solid waste fees and waive any associated late fees for residents that are affected.

Brightline. Offering free rides for Federal employees (Smart Service only) between its Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach stations.

Feeding South Florida Food Bank. For federal employees in need of food assistance, Feeding South Florida has scheduled distributions in various areas. All that’s necessary to receive food is a federal ID. (Additional distributions pending.)

Frost Museum of Science. The museum is offering free general admission to federal employees with valid ID.

HistoryMiami Museum. The museum is offering federal employees and a guest complimentary admission to the museum for the remainder of the government shutdown.

Lake Clarke Shores Utilities. The Town of Lake Clarke Shores is allowing all furloughed Federal government workers served by the Town’s utilities to defer utility payments until the government shutdown ends.

MODS. Free entry to furloughed federal workers and a guest with ID at

Perez Art Museum Miami. The museum is offering free admission with a valid federal employee ID, as well as select part-time employment opportunities to help furloughed workers bridge the gap during the shutdown.

School District of PBC. Families impacted by the Federal Government shutdown could qualify for free or reduced lunch due to a temporary reduction in household income.

West Palm Beach Utility Service. Federal employees not receiving a paycheck due to the 2019 partial shutdown of the federal government will be exempt from disconnection of public utilities service for the duration of the shutdown
