Our program's water safety and swim lessons use Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques and learn-to-swim methods to promote lasting change in swimming skills. Our 1:1 lessons are tailored to your child's pace and abilities. The Safe and Sound Swimmers program is available to children as young as 2 years old, with or without special needs. Vouchers for Free Lessons. State vouchers administered by the Florida Department of Health will be available for families with children aged 4 or younger, provided their income does not exceed 200% of the federal poverty level. The application period for 2026 ended on March 20, 2026 but stay tuned for when it will reopen.
YMCAs of Tampa Bay (Safety Around Water): Local branches, including the Tampa Metropolitan and Suncoast YMCA associations, offer free or grant-funded water safety and beginner lessons for non-swimmers. These multi-day courses focus on skills like "swim, float, swim." Visit the Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA or the YMCA of the Suncoast to find schedules and register your child.
